Why I Love Lifestyle Photography

When I first picked up my camera, I didn’t have any plans to become a photographer. I had just quit my job in People and Culture to become a stay-at-home mom with my first son. During those early days at home, I started playing around with a camera, simply wanting to capture his milestones and everyday moments. Now, I’ve returned to a part-time career in People and Culture – something I truly enjoy and find fulfillment in – while continuing to grow my love for photography alongside it.

From there, I grew to love photography – not just for the pretty pictures, but for what it allowed me to see and remember. I fell in love with capturing the natural moments: the little details, the quiet cuddles, the belly laughs, and even the chaos that makes life what it is.

Lifestyle photography captures life as it is – genuine, unposed, and full of emotion. I love trying to capture a person’s true personality through a picture, giving them a moment to look back on and feel exactly how they felt then. I believe these are the real moments that matter most. They create real smiles, real laughs, and memories you can hold onto forever.

It also takes the stress out of photos. There’s no pressure to pose perfectly or smile just right. It’s about being yourself, loving on your family, and letting me document it all in a way that feels true to you.

That’s why I love lifestyle photography – because your real life is beautiful, and it deserves to be remembered just as it is.
